Flags Over
Bear Country

Flags Over Bear Country (FOBC) is the primary fund raising project for Boy Scout Troop 497.  However, the purpose of the fund raiser is greater than simply helping to pay for camping expenses (a boy scout focus).  The FOBC Project also builds a spirit of patriotism, community awareness, leadership, and responsibility while emphasizing the importance of service to others (another scouting focus).

Troop 497 will place a non-obtrusive plastic sleeve in your yard, cap it and mark the curb in preparation for the flag placement.  The sleeve will be flush with the ground; requiring no maintenance on your part.  The sleeve will not interfere with mowing.  A 3' x 5' American Flag on a 10' pole will be placed (Posted) at dawn on the six mornings of the national flag display days.

The Flags will be collected (Retired) at dusk the same day.  The tax deductible charge for this service is $30 per year.

By participating in the FOBC Project, you are helping to instill these values and encourage and support this character growth  in our youth.  Furthermore, you will be displaying your patriotism when these flags are proudly flying.

If you would be interested in having a flag placed to show your support and patriotism, send an e-mail to the project director.  A scout will call on you to collect the fee and place the sleeve.  If you just have more questions about this project, you can also send an e-mail to the project director.
