How Do I Join Troop 497?
Troop 497 usually has a registration meeting and Webelos campout in February; but, you can join anytime of the year. If you are interested in joining, you may send e-mail to the Membership Director, or to the Scoutmaster.
Troop 497 serves boys who have either:
- completed 5th grade; or
- earned the Arrow of Light; or
- are 11 years old but not yet 18 years old.
Joining Flow Sheet
- Boy visits Troop meeting and is given warm welcome by Troop; and is given a Membership Packet by the Membership Director.
- Boy is invited to sit at table with friend in any Patrol during Patrol segment and with Scout and Tenderfoot ranks during Rank/MB segment of Troop Meeting.
- Boy returns completed forms, dues and fees to Membership Director.
- Membership Director offers scout and adult leader(s) "New Member Package" of tee shirt, handbook, cap, numerals, epaulets, slide and Council patch.
- Membership Director forwards fees, dues and proceeds to Finance Director, data sheets to TroopMaster File Manager, Scout application form to Scoutmaster (for signature), Troop Resource Survey(s) to Merit Badge Director, and adult application form(s) to Troop Committee (at next meeting).
- Scoutmaster signs and returns Temporary Membership Certificate and Scout Application form to Membership Director.
- Membership Director forwards Temporary Membership Certificate to Junior Scout Director (for presentation to new scout); files council copy of scout application form with Council office and forwards Council-Stamped troop copy of scout application form to Troop Treasurer (for Troop file).
- Scoutmaster assigns boy to a patrol.
- Upon completion of joining requirements, boy is presented with Scout rank patch, Troop neckerchief, Name Badge and Patrol Patch.
